Starting a Wordpress Theme from Scratch

Well that’s it! I did it. I started over from scratch using the notes at Themes Wiki and also using the Wordpress Codex to create a new theme for my blog from scratch. I’m also tweaking things on the fly in Firefox using the FireBug plugin to see what values work best. Firebug is really cool.

While its very easy to get a Wordpress site up and running, basic themes just never seem work and look just they way that I want them too. So I started with a simple theme WP-PortalTheme and then began changing it here and there.

Themes Wiki is a great place to learn how to create your own theme from scratch.

In the end I may just give up and hire a designer, but while I’m tinkering with it its pretty fun.

The Best Speakers for a PC.

I’ve had a really old set of speakers on my computer and they finally died. So after researching and looking around. I decided to purchase some recording studio monitors. I bought the M-Audio BX5A speakers which are low-end ($299 a pair) studio monitors and the sound is absolutely phenomenal. With my old speakers when I turned up the volume the sounded harsh. Now when I turn up the volume I can get enough. The sound is awesome. I’m now wishing I had shelled out even more money for more expensive monitors, but I guess I’ll just have to live with these for a while.
